Gowns for Grads, is a volunteer initiative by the Laura Milner White Committee. We are 100% volunteer run and donation based.
The Gowns for Grads program was began at St. John’s High School in 2009 after it was realized that some young women were not attending their graduation because they did not have, and could not afford a gown to wear. The Winnipeg School division joined the initiative a few years later, and over the past could of years, the Laura Milner White Committee has led the program. Currently, the program is 100% volunteer run, managed and funded by the Gowns for Grads Winnipeg Committee. To date, we have given out over 2000 grad dresses.
We believe that every young woman should have the opportunity to attend their graduation, and feel beautiful while doing so. Gowns for Grads takes the financial burden out of the equation and ensures that each and every young graduate who could not otherwise afford a gown receives a gown that she feels amazing in. We also accept and distribute purses, shoes and jewelry.
